Even our judicial system treats sexual assault on par with white collar crimes or theft depending on the perpetrators’ socioeconomically background, compared to the reaction to more inhumane crimes such as murder. Robbery victims are never told that they are at fault for flashing a nice sports car or nice suit, nor they are never asked why they didn’t struggle with the robber or scream for help. Although it is unheard of for these questions to be asked of robbery victims, these questions and conclusions are the norm for victims of sexual assault. Excellent compared to other colleges, though this number could be higher if possible sexual assaults occurred and were reported. I propose to review sexual assault on college campuses throughout the United States and put stiffer penalties in place to deter this type of behavior. I will achieve the following three goals: Changes within college campus administration that follows vigorously discipline and/or prosecute persons identified as responsible for assaults, work more collaboratively with the student community and agencies, and impose penalties on colleges and universities who don’t pursue these claims.
Central Ohio Technical College seems to do an excellent job in controlling sexual assaults in and around campus from what is reported (“Newark Campus Report”). The college also works extensively with groups such as RAINN, The American Association of University Women, and The Ohio State University to name a few (“Get the
