Throughout life, we all have bad ideas or make dumb decisions at one point or another. Whether it’s a giant tattoo across your shoulders, staying up all night partying the day before a test, or texting your awful ex-boyfriend when you’re drunk asking if he wants to get coffee later in the week. In my case, one of my bad decisions came about because of a boring afternoon and my grumbling stomach. In hindsight, I probably shouldn’t have tried to make chocolate chip pancakes with 5-year old twins. However, I was hungry and bored and thought it’d be a fun activity to occupy my sisters while my mom was at the doctor. While it was fun, it was also a mistake. It’s too easy for things to go wrong when cooking with little kids and just thinking back to that afternoon makes my heart rate speed up a little. We’re all still alive though, so that’s a plus. Although at one point I admit I was fearful that we were going to end up burning the house down. I’m getting a little ahead of myself though. Let’s back up to July 15th 2016, otherwise known as the day I should’ve just eaten a sandwich instead of trying to make pancakes. My stomach grumbled again. I flipped through a couple more channels on the TV before finally pushing the power button to make the screen go black. Mindlessly, I wandered into the kitchen and opened the fridge.
