Stereotypes Of Weed In High School

Improved Essays
Ever since I can remember, I was always the stoner kid. Before I even knew what weed was, ignorant kids labeled me as a pot-head. My baggy skater boy clothes, my Scooby-Doo like hair, and the classic rock blaring from my headphones all pointed at me smoking weed. Well, at some point in my high school career, this stereotype became a reality, and I made some unwise choices that would follow me the rest of my life. This girl was cool. She had a slight skater look with long blonde hair. She hung around a lot of my friends, so i was almost forsure she wasn't going to narc. Now I never told this girl that I smoked. Maybe the word went through the grapevine or something, but at the time I happened to know someone with them. “Yea no problem they are 15 a pop” knowing I could get them for way cheaper. Next thing you know I have someone else asking me for one, and then I'm telling the homies I'm getting them. It was a chain reaction that I should've known was spiraling out of control, but all that was going through my mind was rip off …show more content…
This Friday was key because there was a big party everyone was going too. Now I remember this like it was yesterday. I boarded the bus with about 10 brownies in my backpack. All pre- bagged for different people. I sat next to my best friend at the time and told him the situation. “Yo man let me get one, im trying to get high today” he exclaimed. “ yea no problem bro, of course i got you”. I opened my backpack and a skunk like smell filled the bus. We made the exchange lighting quick knowing that the chances of getting busted were through the roof. My heart was running a marathon, and the adrenaline was high of its own. My friend frantically tossed me some Axe body spray, but the damage was

Over the past couple years, I have started to become the person I have always wanted to be, i.e. straightedge and pop punk. Through the use of the medium, Tumblr, I was able to get a tighter grasp on what I believe in and enjoy. Seeing all my friends in high school start drinking and smoking at a young age made me hate drugs and alcohol even more. I never really fit in with the crowd because I did not go to parties and get wasted. All of my friends thought I was a lame or “prude” because I did not want to get in trouble or poison my body with harmful chemicals.…

Social construction emphasizes the process through which concepts and beliefs about the world are formed (and reformed) and through which meanings are attached to things and events (2009). One thing that is socially constructed in both negative and positive ways in the United States is marijuana. On one side of the issue, marijuana is allowed in some states to be used for recreational purposes, like California and more recently Colorado, while in others you can be fined for the use of it, for an example New York. As a whole, I think society is starting to become more open to the idea of legalizing marijuana. I think the upcoming generalizations are more open and accepting and that makes a huge difference in it as well.…

On the fateful day of April 22nd, 2015, I was unfortunately carrying marijuana and a small pipe on me and then was caught by police. I now have to pay many hefty fines and preform many hours of community service. What I regret most about smoking marijuana is all of the time I wasted while being high and just not being able to be productive like I would have been sober. Instead I spent my time playing video games mindlessly, dazing into the television, or just sleeping instead of possibly studying or being active. I can recall instances where I needed to read or study for a test or quiz and instead I would smoke then not be able to study because I could not concentrate.…
