Once in the visiting room they sat down at the table to eat the chips, juice, and cupcakes Bobby Sr. had brought for them. The children and Bobby Sr. sang happy birthday to Mellissa. The children thanked Bobby Sr. for the snacks. Bobby Sr. looked at a magazine while the children played. Travon and Mariah began to play with a soccer ball tossing it back and forth. Melissa and Bobby Jr stood in front of a mirror poring juice into their mouths. Bobby Sr. asked Mariah and Travon to stop or roll the ball multiple times, but they continued to toss the ball back and forth. Mariah and Travon were playing around in the rocking chair in the visiting room and spilled chips on the floor. Bobby Sr. asked them to clean up the mess, but the children refused and bickered about who was at fault for dropping the chips. The children’s therapist stopped by. The girls hugged her hello. The therapist informed the children she would be seeing them at daycare later on that evening. The children all hugged the therapist goodbye. Travon asked his mother how he was doing. She told him not well she was scraped up and messed up. The birth mother spoke with Melissa and wished her a happy birthday. Just then the caseworker, Brittany, came into the room. Bobby Sr. gave Brittany the phone because the mother wanted to speak with her. Brittany left the visiting room and the children continued to play while Bobby Sr. observed. Bobby never interacted to play with the children during the visit he sat back and observed. Bobby Sr. did ask Travon to help him spell Melissa’s name and the children’s birth dates. Mariah began to whine because she wanted to write down her own name and birthday. She lay on the ground under the table whimpering. After Travon finished writing for Bobby Sr., he and Mariah started to help each other with crossword puzzles inside the magazines they got out of the free basket inside the main lobby of the Caritas building. Bobby Sr. received another phone call from a family friend. Travon put him on speaker phone and greeted him. The man asked how he was doing and how his summer had been.
