The topic of love itself is a complicated and confusing topic. Love is also a broad subject. There is the love between family. Also there is the love between friends, peers, and coworkers. But, the strong and romantic love between a man and a woman is one of the strongest loves in existence. In Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, the love between Romeo and Juliet is often a debate as to whether their love is true love or simply mere attraction. In the play Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, the maturity of the love between Romeo and Juliet is strong and true because they have complete love and support for each other, they stay together no matter the consequences, and their love is not based upon appearance. Romeo and Juliet’s love is real and true because they support each other and love each other fully. “He shall not make me there a joyful bride” (3.5.p.983). Here, it shows where Juliet does not wish to be married to Paris and how she is not attracted to anyone besides Romeo. “Blistered be thy tongue for such a wish! He was not born to shame” (3.2.p.969). What happened before was that the nurse said Romeo should be ashamed, and Juliet comes to the defense of Romeo. This is evident since they are not attracted to other people, and they are willing to protect each other. It is also seen when they choose to stay together even though their families are enemies, and they die for each other. Lastly, it is evident since they did not choose to be with one another mainly due to their looks. The only thing they could have done differently is be honest with their parents over their relationship, and they might have been able to live and love each other
