One of the main themes in this story is being accepted in society, Hitler and his followers believed that anyone who did not fit Aryan protocol did not deserve to be apart of society or in many cases did not deserve to live. The Nazis believed the Aryan race founded civilization and were racially superior. They believed that Germans were modern-day Aryans or the master race. Hitler believed that a typical Aryan was tall, blond, and blue eyed.
In the beginning of the story Daniel and his family were happy and living like any other German family. Both of his parents were born and raised Germany
