• Identify the Problem o Outline the facts: Jane wants to go on vacation o Correct Identify the Problem: Jane wants to go on vacation because she is stress and burn out. Jane decided to go vacation informing some of her clients that she is attending vacation, however, the other clients doesn’t know she is going on vacations. Jane should not abandon her clients when she goes on vacations. o Identify the problem as an ethical, legal, professional, or clinical- This problem is a professional problem because Jane should email all of her clients that she was going on vacation in a timely manner. This problem is also a ethical problem because a counselor should never abandon their clients without having another counselor taking over their case. …show more content…
Back Up Counselor- The potential consequences and implications for each course of action for not having a back up counselor is the counselor would have to take her office phone with her and answer all emails and messages while she is on vacation. The counselor would not be able to enjoy her vacation and will probably have to return to the office for some counselor who has crisis such as suicidal thoughts. She will have to make calls for suicidal patients to be admitted into the mental hospital.
4. Contact Numbers- The potential consequences and implication for each course of action for not having important contact numbers while the counselor is on vacation is the counselor would be responsible for the clients actions. For example; If the counselor does not leave a client a crisis number when the client is in a crisis, then the client can potential harm herself or others. The counselor can be in trouble and possibility have a disciplinary action toward her license. o Identify the Best Course of Action and Why
The best course of action is for the counselor to inform all of her clients that she is going on vacation in a month advance notice. She should also provide a back up counselor , crisis contact numbers on her voicemail message, and she should provide a document that states the back up counselor information and crisis contact numbers to each client before leaving.

The clients will have a monthly advance notice. The information on document will also be a the back up counselor information, and the days and times that he or she will be available. I will also provide emergency contact information on the document as well such as suicide prevention hotline, child abuse hotline, 911 emergency, and etc. The closer that I get to the date I attend vacation, I will give each of my clients a reminder, and remind them if I have extra copies of the important document that I gave to them earlier. I will also leave the back up counselor and emergency contact numbers on my voicemail as
