Culture change is the transformational change that involves services provided for elders and individuals with disabilities to become person-centered paving a new wave for the voices of residents and those serving them to be considered and respected. The core values of culture change are choice, dignity, respect, self-determination and purposeful living (Pioneer Network, 2011). The duties of staff should be focus on responsibility, accountability and strong support towards the residents.
Promote resident choices in their daily life activates, such as time getting up and going to bed; eating; naps; times out of doors; favorite pastimes; times and methods of bathing; content of meals and the ways meals are served;
Emphasize the relationship between the resident and caregivers as central on care and maintain consistent assignments with staff to enhance the enhance the relationships between hands-on caregivers and residents.
Weekly meetings to familiarize staff with each resident, team building, and seeking staff’s opinions.
Provide resident-centered care by allowing residents to dictate bedtimes, eating

The Artifacts of culture change is directed towards providers and researchers to examine significant changes a nursing home has made that are different from other culture changing homes. Apart from researchers and providers, there are other entities who are willing to compare culture changes in homes “against other deficiencies, quality measures, quality indicators, turnover to determine if changing culture has any positive effects.” These entities include provider organizations, nursing home chains, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
