As I’ve already said, the two mythologies are more different than they are similar. In Greek mythology There is a sun god (Helios), a dawn god (Eos), and a moon god (Selene).

When both gods jumped into the sacrificial fire and rose in the sky together with the same amount of brightness, it was a problem. In the Aztec culture, the moon and sun were not allowed to be equal. This was partly because the gods knew two suns lighting all of the heavens would make the world too bright, so they plotted against Metztli. One of the gods threw a rabbit at Metztli face which caused him to be wounded and darkened his face. From that day on Metztli was was dimmer than Tonatiuh which allowed him to be the moon. His face was permanently marked with a rabbit which is why you can see a rabbit on the moon according to their culture. In the Greek mythology there was no problem with the sun and moon being equal. Partly because the sun god and the moon god were brother and sister. As long as Helios droves his sun chariot across the sky during the day time and Selene drove her moon chariot across the sky at night, everything worked out
