All the societies discussed in this unit had public places of worship for their mythological gods and goddesses, such as the Greek temples and Aztec pyramids. Why do you think these were important to these civilizations? The reason why these were important to these civilizations was because it is the root of how they came to be, and there culture, there beggining. Every family and group of people have a story to where they began, so all those temples have a story to how their ancestors lived and died believing in what they did.

Many of these mythological stories were filled with violence. Why do you think this is? I believe these had all kinds of violence because, that is how us humans learn. Most of the time people need to learn the hard way and after all the chaos, we learn from our mistakes. It could be that back then humans were not as sophisticated and 2017 thin king mindset, but i do know that if there is something good about to happen, that there will always be something trying to get in the way.
4. For many of these myths and legends, we only have one or two sources left from ancient times. Without them these ancient myths and legends would be gone forever. Why is it extremely important that we preserve the stories of our past? I think that we need to know our history. To understand the past could give us a better visual of our future if we just so happen to know how to shape

I agree with you when you said that mythology has exercised an enormous influence on the culture of Western civilization. We can see myth related stories almost every day in books, movies, and even video games. There is a video game I played a couple of years ago called God of War. It’s a game based on Greek mythology. The story line, characters, and images used in it was incredible.…

Throughout our lives we are taught different stories that can affect us dramatically, either in a positive way or negative way. During our childhood we read the Tortoise and the Hare, which is a story that taught us the moral, “slow and steady wins the race”. We also read things such as: The Boy Who Cried Wolf, which taught us essentially not to lie, because if you lie enough, you won’t be believed when you tell the truth. These stories taught us valuable lessons growing up, but not only do these children books teach us lessons. As we get older we start reading things known as creation myths in our classes.…

Native American’s idoled the God’s nature and the Greek’s created numerous God’s that explained all events that could occur. All cultures had their own type of myths, which all held some truth and held even more missing pieces that were filled in by mankind's words, creating myths. One other similarity I have found in that most cultures believe in an life after death. I don’t know that I have it in me to consider this a myth, as I do believe in it, however since it has never been proven true I can see that this could be considered mythical. One last similarity I have found is that many cultures symbolized animals.…

As today’s games are viewed as a completion between nations, because religion was so important to ancient Greek culture during this time, the games were original founded as a religious celebration to honor and celebrate the importance of Greek religion. The first founding of the Olympic games dates all the way back to 776 B.C in Olympia, Greece. Although there are several myths of who was the first creator of these games, the importance behind forming this unique festival was religion. The Greco-Roman pantheon and the Norse pantheon are extremely similar to one another with similar roles. From Thor to Jupiter to Odin to Hephaestus, the gods in the pantheons. The “trickster” archetype is common throughout both even though it has a more obvious presence in the Norse Pantheon. The honorable warrior and thunder lord archetypes are almost explicitly the same since honorable warriors were at the height of both societies. The main goddesses in both are also extremely similar in their status as queens and their sovereignty over love and intimacy.…

    Misperceptions Of History

History is an all encompassing area of study, existing in three senses: history that already exists, history that is being created, and history that will be created. The reason for this three-way split is because history is a vocalization or a recording of a passage of time. However, that is only looking at history in the non-human perception, as history to us humans has a more personal definition to us: what I, us, or another human has done, is doing, or will do. By including the human element, we give time and history a more including and interesting worldview. Including the human element is important as it not only makes the education of history more widely accessible to a larger audience.…
