I was searching through Facebook one day when I first laid eyes on the horse of my dreams. The horse I had been dreaming about since I was a little girl. He was a chestnut with a huge white blaze and four white socks; in my eyes he was perfect. That day I made an appointment with the off the track thoroughbred rescue race horse reclaim to go and meet him. My mom took off work to accompany my hasty decision making. When we arrived all she saw was everything wrong with him. His tail had been cut off to the dock, he was sway back, I was not allowed to ride him, he had not been ridden since he was two years old, and best of all he was lame. However, how fitting that he knew nothing, yet did no wrong. We worked for months before going to our first show, and just like any other horse, his first show was for experience so the ribbons did not matter. I was just happy we got over all the jumps with no incidents until we started on our way home and Monte slammed his head into the trailer. A quick trip to the vet, and about 30 stitches later, his perfect head was stitched back together. We then went to our second horse show, in which Monte went lame due to an abscess. This took him a month to get over, and when he was finally over the abscess and off of stall rest, he went out to his paddock for the first time and hurt himself again. This time popping a splint and being on stall rest for three more months. It had been 4 months since I had gotten to ride him because the vet did not want him to go back to full work until we were sure it was totally healed. Since all of his drama, Monte was now ready to go into full swing show
