In this essay I will be comparing and contrasting the artwork Web #8 by Vjia Celmins and Drapery for a seated figure by Da Vinci. First, we will start off with the differences between the two pieces of art work. The mediums for Web # 8 is a dry media, charcoal on paper while Drapery for a Seated Figure is a liquid media, grey distemper on grey linen canvas. Vija's piece Web #8 is a charcoal piece containing line work such as cross hatching and a gray scale. Her line work I considered cross hatching, but a loose use of it. She used the lines to show motion and depth instead of darkness and light. Da Vinci's piece has one hue with lots of implied depth and texture through the pieces layout. Through his artwork he had lines that fit the definition
