Walt Whitman Biography

Thank you Uncle Alan and Auntie Rumi for honoring me with the opportunity of saying a few words today.

In one of Walt Whitman’s poems (a personal favorite of mine that I was thinking of over my plane ride here) O Me, O Life, he wrote:
“That you are here—that life exists and identity, That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.”

The verse Noelle contributed in this powerful play during her time with us was unconditional love and happiness.

She was one of the most down to earth woman I’ve ever met, and her presence brightened up any room with negative vibes. She loved the world with every bit of her pure heart - her friends, her family, all puppies, the ocean and it’s many inhabitants, unicorns... - and the world loved

She had the ability to forgive and encourage others to follow her lead. She would glow with genuine happiness when you shared some positive news with her. I don’t have to tell you all of this - I’m sure you all know how much of an amazing girl she was and there’s quite literally nobody else like her.

She brought everybody together while she was here, and still after she has gone. She touched the lives of many in Okinawa, Tokyo (especially within the KAIS community), Boston, and here in California. In just the three weeks she was in Santa Cruz, a big group of 10 college students all came together to have a bonfire and bbq memorial by the beach for Noelle. I personally received a phone call from Connor, a friend of hers from BU, and a group of friends there had planned a service for her too. Noelle had the wonderful gift of touching the lives of many within a short amount of time, everywhere she went.

I am so blessed to have known Noelle, to have been kissed with her lessons of love and happiness, and being inspired to being true to your heart after she made the decision to start anew after

Think of the unity of effect like a cowboy riding a bull. The longer the cowboy stays on the bull, the more the audience feels the rush, the adrenaline. When every aspect of your writing is focused on a consistent point, a piece of emotion hits the readers. In order to achieve the unity of effect, one might begin to evoke beauty in all living and natural elements and add a touch of emotion, thus determining a desired unity of effect. Edgar Allan Poe uses a variety of literary devices and other styles of romantic writing in order to create the one emotional effect, the one goal and the one specific tone in his poems and short stories.…

Personally, even though these individuals require more attention and help, they should be loved. Loved so much that they know that they may be different but are very much loved. We must be careful how we refer to these individuals and to ensure that we are taking good care of them. We should not be afraid of vaccines, because they are not the ones that cause autism.…
