Although Eleanor Roosevelt was able to change the world; her life wasn’t always perfect. Eleanor was born on October 11, 1884 to two rather selfish parents. Anna, her mother, constantly complained about Eleanor’s ‘ugly’ looks and was often too busy with other matters to care for Eleanor. Meanwhile, her father, Elliot, was alcoholic despite the fact that his daughter looked up to him. When poor Eleanor was only 12, her mother died. Few years later, Eleanor married Franklin Delano Roosevelt at age 21 and became the First Lady in in 1932 when her husband was elected president. She used her influence to solve injustices with women’s rights, African-American rights, consumer welfare, and she also found jobs for the poor and unemployed. Many others would have simply enjoyed the fame and would’ve been arrogant instead of using the power to change the world. But Eleanor Roosevelt seized the moment and refused to pass the opportunity of enhancing others’ lives
