Vincent Van Gogh and Edvard Munch have different painting styles. Van Gogh had a painting style that was “characterized by boldly scored impasto, insistent brush strokes, and vibrant colours, often complementary” (Sorensen, 2004.) Colors were used to express their feelings between both artists. In Munch’s painting The Scream, there was a man on the bridge with his hands holding his face in terror. “Munch uses red to indicate horror, blood, and anguish” (Getlein, 2015.).The sky was red indicating horror, blood, and anguish. At the time, it was Munch who was walking on the bridge at sunset when out of no-where he had heard a scream that only he could hear. This painting was created a few years later after Van Gogh ended his life. Even though The Scream was an event that happened to Munch, it is really identical to The Bridge at Trinquetaille because they both have a person standing at the edge of the bridge with one or two hands by their face.
