This philosophical study will examine the validity of perspectivism in relation to the conception of ideas. Nietzsche’s perspectivist point of view provides diversity in the understanding of religious practices. Plato’s notion of the Forms and the idea of a “God” as the source of “universal truths” cannot be valid, especially due to the variety of religious beliefs that exist in the world. Surely, many of these religious points of view reveal similarities of ethics and moral values, but the differing perspectives on the identity of the a higher power are a reality that cannot be denied. In this way, perspectivism is not a “weak” argument because every individual’s beliefs are formed through a wide range of differing …show more content…
For example, there are many different Christian sects that have evolved since the time of Christ. Over the centuries, the premise of God and Jesus Christ as a savior of humanity may be a common “standard” for Christian ethics and morals, yet the Roman Catholics, Lutherans, Episcopalians, and other Christian sects have widely differing views of Christianity. Therefore, it is not a convincing argument that Plato’s God (or any God for that matter) is an absolute truth. More so, the modern scientific community is also divided on issues, such as the formation of the universe. Some astrophysicists believe that the “Big Bang” created universe, but there are other contradicting theories, such as the Theory of a Multiverse. A “multiverse” is a theory that there is no single beginning to the universe, but that there are many universes interacting with each other and recycling themselves ad infinitum. Much like religion, there is no single or absolute way to theorize scientific theories because of the diverse array of opinions brought forth by many different perspectives. This is also part of Einstein’s Theory of Relativism that views reality through a wide range of perspectives as an expansion of Nietzsche’s theory of perspectivism as a more rationale way to view the universe or …show more content…
This does not imply that the universe or religion is without order or “standards”, but it implies that ideas are flexible and dynamic. In religion, the tendency to an absolutist point of view is not uncommon, but there are also many diverse sects that create differing standards that are ethical, moral, and rationale per the individual or group. Standards are possible to a certain degree, but only in that human beings like to streamline ideas for the safety and comfort of create an orderly society. However, the underlying reality of dynamic and diversified points of view continually shifts these "standards” over time. This is an important way to validate perspectives as an overarching truth because ironically enough, the potential for changing points of view may, in fact, be the closest idea of an absolute truth in an ever-changing universe. Therefore, if religionists and scientists seek an absolute truth, perhaps they should consider the perspectives point of view as the surest way to understand a diverse universe or cosmology. In the short term, human beings can generate ideas that create the veneer of standardization and collectivism, but human beings actually possess a wide range of ideas and beliefs that will always countermand the “status quo.” More so, human beings can make up whatever they want and live by any credo or belief
