In China, unregistered Christian “house churches” have had difficulty finding places to practice their religion, or worship, after the evangelical Shouwang Church was forced out of its rental space last year (Freedom house). People being forced out of the place, or places they worship is a violation of their human rights. According to the The Human Rights House Network people have a right to assemble together to promote and protect human rights through peaceful protest or the expression of their views. Article 20 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights also says everyone should have the right to gather together without being questioned. “A man in Phoenix, Arizona had been sentenced to a total of 60 days in jail after he refused to stop hosting Bible studies in the privacy of his home – in violation of the city’s building code laws.” Choosing to hold a worship session at his home is completely legal.
