Describe the following physical security measures and explain how they may be used to help keep systems secure.
• Locks
Locks are physical security measure that can be used in different aspect within the company. The locks can be put on the door to avoid people who not supposed be in the building or employees who not supposed be on that room. There are different types of locks that can be used within the company such as Password locks that be put on the doors, this will avoid anyone coming to room without password identification to enter the room. Also the company can use ID IDENIFACTION on the door so any employees comes have to use their ID in order to enter the building, this will avoid anyone coming to building without authorisation. Having locks on equipment or doors will avoid any theft of equipment or authorised access to computer system or equipment damage or data corruption. • Visitor’s passes This type of physical security method it works by given a temporary ID that has limited access rights to visitors. …show more content…
Most of the organisation has a system that visitors cannot move around the building without an organisation employee to enter them to the building and escort them out. If the visitors in a wrong place of the building they can be identified to the organisation employee so they will escort them out, otherwise without visitors passes they cannot be identified and they might have a wrong reason of being on that building such as stealing equipment or stealing data, corrupting the system.
• Sign in/out systems
This security measure can be used within the system to secure and keep the data confidential. The organisation employees each one of them who uses a computer system can have a sign in and sign out system, which is User name and password that they need to enter before the system opened and that will prevent anyone from accessing the system without someone else permission . This will keep their data secured and confidential.
Sign in and sign out system also can be used for visitor. When the visitors arrives they sign in and when they out they sign out, this will help the organisation to identify what visitors are in the building and who was in the building. If anything happens in the building with that time they signed up, the organisation will know who was in the building and that will help them to investigate who caused the problem.
Biometrics eg: This security measure always being updated and new developed found regarding these type of security measure that being mentioned below. • Retinal scans This is a biometric security measure similar to the finger print but in this it works with scanning the rear of the eye rather than a finger print. This type of security takes two seconds to complete the scan. This is better than finger print as the finger can be burned or cut but the retina is impossible to change the retina without damaging the eye. Also it remains from birth that acts as constant and reliable way of identification. Fingerprint This is a security that used within organisation to protect their building from unauthorised access. Finger print is hardware device that identifies the user or enters their password information by scanning their finger prints. Finger prints can be used within
