Totalitarianism is a government that takes total control over every aspect of public and private life. This was the type of government Adolf Hitler transformed Germany into. Before Adolf Hitler came into power he joined a little political party known as the Nazi in the early 20s. The Nazi party was made up of middle and lower middle class and believed that Germany had to overthrown the Treaty of Versailles and combat communism. By 1932 Nazi became largest political party. In 1933 the president Paul Von Hindenburg named Hitler chancellor because only Hitler could stand up to strong communist Party in Germany. According to document 5, Hitler stands in a podium marked with the Nazi symbol, and is surrounded by Nazi officers and Hitler youth wearing the Nazi uniform while Hitler is giving a speech. The Nazi uniform was a type of propaganda that help the German people but mostly the youth understand the great totalitarian states and the great pride of following Hitler. Hitler created youth group which trained children to idolize him and his will. Since they knew nothing before Hitler became a dictator and was taught strict work ethic and behavior. They became more devoted to Hitler and Nazism. Hitler used intense propaganda such as films, radio, speeches, books, posters, and newspapers to brainwash children into believing Jews were bad. Children at school even stopped being friends with Jews (Change at school). According to Erika Mann, German children of the 1930s saw hating the jews was a normal thing to do since that’s what they learn in school, youth group and propaganda. They’ve never seen life where Hitler and the Nazi aren't in control, so they became dedicated to them and not see the wrong of hating an innocent jew or loving a destructive
