In 1932, Pete Maduras and Tony Papouchis moved Pete's Place where they were serving customers from a little building on North Federal. T-bone steaks were $.25 and liquor was bootlegged out of the basement. In 1965, Pete wanted to retire and sold the business to Tony. It was at that time that Tony Papouchis Change the name to The Northwestern Steakhouse. Tony ran the Northwestern Steakhouse planting his garden every year. He collected the fresh vegetables in the summer to use in the restaurant.
