A survey ran on october 12-13, by rasmussen reports states that 52% percent of the people support euthanasia, 30% of people oppose it, and 17% are undecided. Say you were to suffer serious head trauma and go into PVS (Persistent vegetative state). If you were to be diagnosed with PVS, you would have zero awareness of your surroundings, but you would still be kept alive from your body. Because of this, your family may not want you to have to “live” like this. I put live in quotations, because you aren’t living, you are just surviving, being kept alive by your organs. Because of this, your family may want you euthanized, by having your life support pulled. But due to current euthanasia laws in the U.S, you cannot do this, unless you are in California, Oregon, Washington, Colorado or Vermont. They believe that god has a date in which we are meant to die, and we should not mess with that. They may also believe that it could be classified as murder. The dictionary.com definition of suicide is “the intentional taking of ones life” and the dictionary.com defintion of assist is “to give support, or aid; help”. If you combine these to get assisted suicide, you get “the intentional taking of one's life, with support or aid.” The person in dire condition must agree to this, and if they are not capable (say in PVS), then the family of said person must agree. Talking about gods date in dying, we are all children of god (those who believe) , and god does not want his children to suffer. Therefore, we would end the suffering. Euthanasia is a very controversial topic. Many people believe it is humane, while others believe it is not. I for one believe that this is more humane than letting someone suffer. Would you rather be in a permanent coma or pain, or be put down, stopping all of that? I for one would rather be put down. So you should stop people’s suffering and join the cause to legalize
