Self-care for the therapist is most important in working with Jessica. First, it is important for the therapist to identify personal triggers and hot spots. This can reduce the instance of counter-transference. Additionally, if the therapist has encountered previous trauma to Jessica’s supervision is essential. This will help the clinician obtain an objective view of practices being implemented and the presence of subjective views or instances of vicarious trauma.
