At school, Scout first witnessed hypocrisy through her teacher, Mrs. Gates. She taught the class about how evil Hitler was to the Jews, yet she was so happy when Tom Robinson was convicted and persecuted (328-329, 331). Another time Scout witnessed hypocrisy, was when she tried to join the conversations of the women in the missionary circle. There she heard them talk hypocritically to one another. The women talked about giving their utmost support to the poor black tribe in Africa but excluding their fellow black neighbors in Maycomb (308-310). Finally, Scout just witness hypocrisy through conversation and actions, as she also saw hypocrisy through some people. A hypocritical person that Scout has witnessed is, of course, the famous antagonist.
