The Trip of a Lifetime I will always remember traveling to Europe this past summer. I started out the trip not knowing anybody else, and ended it crying my eyes out at our goodbyes. We spent every minute together for three weeks, doing things our peers could only dream about. Amazing memories come from each country we visited: France, England, Wales, and Ireland. The airport in France was where everyone met for the first time. There was forty five of us total, plus five leaders. About half of us were from all over Minnesota, and the other half were from Michigan. We were awkward at first, no one knew anyone. The worst part was we were assigned roommates for the night. I liked both of mine, but we were still complete strangers sharing a room. Over the first few days, cliques began to form. My friends were all from Minnesota. We had an incredible time exploring Paris; Notre Dame, the Louvre, the Arc de Triomphe, and of course, the Eiffel Tower. The sky was robin’s egg blue the day we trekked up the Eiffel Tower. The view of Paris was exquisite, and unforgettable. I still didn’t know anyone but my three friends that well, though. It wasn’t until the four hour bus ride from Paris to Normandy that we started to bond, at least a little. A boy from Michigan named Adam got up and sang to the entire delegation a bunch of songs. He knew he was tone deaf, but he was hilarious. At Normandy, we learned about D-Day in a museum, then actually got to go to Omaha Beach and dip our toes in…
