In the play he takes the side of the opposition and uses the trust of the communities to bend their view of the situation to the opposition. In the first part of the play Brown gives a description of Drummond to inspire fear in the community especially the Christians, Brown describes him as ”I can still see him. A Slouching hook of a man, whose head juts out like an animal's (He imitates Drummond's slouch. Melinda watches, frightened.) You look into his face, and wonder why God made such a man. And then you know that God didn’t make him, that he is a creature of the devil, perhaps even the Devil Himself!” he says this to paint Drummond as evil in the eyes of the community, he uses dialogue especially powerful to christians such as “he is a creature of the devil”.He also brings this into his worship. Being a person most of the community places their moral opinions into using the place of worship to where he has his flock enamored with his words to say this (quote) it’s very manipulative of his community, and he’s going against the bible as Brady says,(quote), but he still manipulates his flock.
