Discrimination are the humans’ actions towards a specific individual or group. These usually is managed by the members of the dominant group towards the minority group. Discrimination can happen everywhere school, work, public places even on the social media. My experience with discrimination occurred at work. I was interviewed by the manager of a retail store couple years ago. During the interview I made a good impression speaking in English, I got hired right away. One day, I decided that I wanted to be promoted, so I decided to speak with the manager of the store. I decided to talk to him in Spanish because this is my native language and I feel more comfortable expressing my feelings. I started speaking in Spanish, and then he asked me: “Who hired you? It wasn’t me right?.” So I answer him: “Yes, you hired me!”, and he responded: “Well I don’t remember you!.” I knew right away that he was mad because he wanted me to speak in English. I realize that I was discriminated because of my language. I didn’t understand why he was mad because he also was a Hispanic with the same last name as me. The majority of the times he spoke to my coworkers in Spanish, and now because he understands English he forgot about his language?.
