What Are The Effects Of Cyberbullying

One type of bullying that has grown of the last decade is cyberbullying. As technology has grown it has allowed for the ways and places that bullying take place to expand too. A child use to think that going home they would be safe and that the bullying could not follow them home. This is no longer the case; students can no longer stay home from school to get away from it as if they go online their bully or another one can find them. The movie Cyberbully which came out in 2011taught me the most about how bad cyberbullying really is. Bullying was taking place at school, in public, and through the internet. The girl in the story could not get it to stop and as a result tried to kill herself. This form of bullying is more likely to cause the victim to cause self-harm, use drugs or alcohol as way to try and let go, and suicide. This can happen in small forms like telling the victim one or two things over and over throughout the day that hurts them. Verbal bullying includes calling names, teasing, these are more common in younger children, preteens but can be seen up to high school. Racist and homophobic, transgender, etc. are also used for verbal bullying but this tends to be in older children, teens, and in adults. Verbal bullying can be so bad as it might not be able to be proven but it often also tends to be pointing out a flaw that the victim already feels bad about and makes them feel worse. This can include birth defects being pointed out, like calling someone limpy or something similar everyday multiple times a day. It can also be very bad where many people, bullies get involved in saying the same thing and causing the victim to feel like they cannot get
