Suppose you were an African American female applying to for a doctor job that you have been hoping to get for months. You have recently received your degree in biology and have all qualifications needed for the position. You get to the interview and notice that there are several other candidates there for the same position. There is one other female that 's caucasian , she is not as experienced as you though. There is also 3 other males, one is Ethiopian with a degree in biology, the second is caucasian with no experience or degree and the other is Asian with some knowledge but not enough to meet the qualifications required. You are the first to be interviewed, you think the interview was okay but the interviewer seems distant. You leave but stay in the waiting room to see how everyone else does. The other female is denied but is offered a lower position, the Ethiopian male is denied as well as the Asian man, and the Caucasian male with no experience is offered the job. It sounds absurd that you could be denied based solely on the fact that you did not meet the required qualifications because of your race, your gender, or your religion but that was the everyday struggle of many people in America before 1965. It led to other amendments that contributes to the Executive Order Program. An example of an order it let to is the “Philadelphia Order’ which was made to integrate the building construction trade. The Executive Order has made a huge impact on workers and the workplace in today 's society. Now anyone has the opportunity to be successful, regardless of the color of their skin, race, sex, creed or nationality.
