Each year, there are over 2.5 million people in the U.S. involved in road accidents. Of these, 1.6 million have a cell phone involved in them. That’s 64% of all the road accidents in the United States. And Of these 1.6 million cell phone related crashes 441,000 resulted in injuries 330,000 of these injuries have been severe, and over 38,000 has resulted in the loss of life last year alone. This means that over 78% of the distracted drivers that injured or killed someone last year was texting while driving.This is a mind-numbing number of deaths for the worst reason in the world, Over half the road accidents in the United States have cell phones involved. With numbers like that, you start to wonder how the world is still on the way to overpopulation. ("Icebikeorg", 2015) Throughout majority of my younger years I have been told about a ludicrous amount of accidents involving someone who made the decision to get behind the wheel drunk but not once was i told about the countless amount of stories about an individual who put individuals in danger by texting and driving this surprises me because there are way more accidents in the United States caused by the individual that chose to text and drive rather than the individual that chose to drive drunk to be more specific it has been calculated that it is actually 6 times more likely to get in an accident by choosing to text and drive than drink and drive.
