The shortfalls of the United States lead peace process have numerous factors. The most blatant problem is the changing government officials, and political movements involved. Throughout the peace process Israel has seen over 10 different prime ministers with 5 different political parties elected. (http://www.stateofisrael.com) Many of these had very different social and political agendas toward the One State and Two State Peace Agreements. Throughout the peace process, Palestine has offered differing opinions through the Palestine Liberations Organization (PLO), the State of Palestine, and the Palestinian National Authority (PNA.) These are just a few of the internal political conflicts that compromise the peace process. While recent relations between Israel and Russia are improving, during the cold war Russia supported and supplied Israel?s enemies with weapons and advisor support. Russia saw Zionism (Racial Imperialism) as a direct threat against Communism within the Soviet Union. The direct support of the Palestinian militias, and Egypt by Russia created a ?War by proxy? between the Soviets and Arabs versus, the America and Israel. (https://www.foreignaffairs.com) Since 2002, the other players involved in the peace initiative are the United Nations, European Union, and the United States. These four groups together make up what is commonly known as the ?Middle East Quartet? and have worked together, and separately to broker peace between the two groups with limited results. The Summits, and Accords organized by the Quartet often falter, or end is open ended promises (pending future concessions.)
