In the book The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, the Socs are the ones to blame for all of the problems. After all they are the cause of the rumble. The Socs are no good drunk 24/7 idiots who need to turn their ego down, and intelligence up. They screw up MANY times in the book. Yah yah, greasers are not perfect, but at least they have some common sense. And I’ll tell you why the greasers are innocent and the Socs are not.

First of all, Johnny was justified in killing Bob. It was in self-defense, the Socs beat up Johnny before traumatizing him, and the only reason why Johnny had his switchblade was because of the same Socs who tried to kill Ponyboy. “The Socs caught my arm and twisted it behind my back, and shoved my face into the

The Fifth and final reason is that the Socs killed Dally. Because if the Socs never killed Johnny then Dally never would have pulled his stupid little gun bluff. Johnny was the only person Dally loved, and they took him away from Dally. “ Johnny was the only thing that Dally loved.” (Pg 152/ The Outsiders/ Hinton). This quote proves that Johnny was the only thing Dally loved. Dally could not live without Johnny, so he took his own life. “ ‘ We can’t walk alone at all. I started carryin’ a heater…’” (Pg 72/ The Outsiders/ Hinton). This quote by Dally shows the main reason why he carried a heater. After Bob’s death, the Socs were all over the place. I think that the main idea of The Outsiders is “ True friends are friends forever”.

The main theme of The Outsiders idea for is “ True friends are friends forever”. Because in the book the gang never left each other and they always worried about each other. “ ‘I am a Soc. I am the privileged and the well dressed. I throw beer blasts, drive fancy cars break windows at fancy parties’.”(Pg 136/ The Outsiders/ Hinton). This quote shows that the Socs do not care about anything that they have. No one blames them for anything because the way they look and dress. No one cuts the greasers a break, and that
