Differences Between The Outsiders Movie And Book

The Outsiders is a story based in the 1960’s. It explains the life of a 14 year old boy and all his friends. He lives in a world where there are two groups the “Greasers” and the “Socs,” as for him he is a greaser. The Outsiders was brought to life by S.E. Hinton. She started writing the novel when she was 16 years old, after it was published they made a movie based off of the original novel. The movie and the book have many similarities and differences, looking at the differences between the book and the movie is what we’ll be comparing today.
The beginnings of the novel and the movie were quite different. In the book he was walking out of the dark movie theater alone, he had two things on his mind Paul Newman and a ride home. As for in the movie, it started off he was writing, he stepped out of the theater. The book also began easier to understand, you knew immediately who some of the characters are and like. In the movie, it was hard to know who each person was till further into the movie . The beginning off the movie began were Ponyboy was meeting Cherry Valance a Soc, but in the book Ponyboy didn’t meet Cherry till the second chapter.
