To begin, the authors of novels have a huge impact on the reader when it comes to social inequalities and persecution. Many authors use relatable events and themes to help the reader understand the social inequalities of teens. Throughout the fiction book, The Outsiders, the author, S.E. Hinton, uses real life problems in society today, which help the reader understand and relate to the topic, such as bullying situations. One example from the book, is when the Soc’s constantly jumped the Greasers, most of the time for their own amusement. Mainly, though, the Greasers were jumped due to the fact they were not as wealthy as the Soc’s.
