The hardships we face as a society strengthen us. On August 29,2005, Hurricane Katrina made landfall in the US. After tearing through Alabama and Mississippi, it’s destruction concentrated on New Orleans. With storm surges as high as 36 feet in some areas, Katrina affected nearly 90,000 square miles leaving almost 2000 dead. With intervention from the coast guard and other organizations, the gulf coast recovered. Kindness during hardship greatly influences our society.
