The Nazi Olympics. The world knew nothing about what was going on in Germany. Germany tried their best to mask what was going on. Jesse Owens stole the show on the track. There were many countries who tried to boycott the Olympics. The Olympics were a way for Hitler to show the world nothing was happening, even know there was stuff going on he used propaganda to make people think there was nothing. The U.S. won the gold they beat Canada 19-8 on a clay and sand court in the rain. It was the first time there was a torch relay and the first time the countries were announced in alphabetical order. Two things that are still being used today. The torch was carried from Athens Greece to Berlin. The person who lit the flame was Siegfried Eifrig. He said “It was a huge honor to carry the torch and that there were over 300,000 people watch him light the Olympic torch”. The main stadium held over 100,000 people; there was over 150 new buildings for the games. There were 49 countries at the 1936 Olympics ("The 1936 Berlin Olympics"). There was a boycott for the 1936 Olympics. The IOC was originally going to have the Olympics away from berlin but they couldn't do that because the buildings and the other facilities were in good working condition.
