X-rays and other radiological techniques aid in showing bones structure and mass in vivo. This is possible due to x-rays passing unobstructed through low density tissues and being obstructed by high density tissues.
Goniometers are a tool used to measure the range of motion of a joint. This helps identify the plane of movement through which a bony landmark can be moved. This can be used to determine possible performance, as well as provided information about pathologies if the range of a motion of a joint is significantly different then known normality standards.

1. Describe the contribution of two key figures in biomechanics.
Two of the key figure in biomechanics are Andreas Vesalius, and Herbert R. Lissner.
Andreas Vesalius (1514-1564 AD) improved the understanding of biomechanics through the advancements in the knowledge of the anatomy of the musculoskeletal system. Much of Vesalius’s work was documented in his book, On the Structure of the Human Body. In this work, many previous errors in biomechanics, such as previous belief that internal pulley systems caused human movement, were corrected.
