3) InformationStructure: Information structurerepresents the internal organization of various data and controlitems. The following questions are answered by an assessment of information structure.
Are data items to be organized as an n-dimensional table or asa hierarchical tree structure? Within the context of the structure, what information isrelated to other information? Is all information contained within a single structure or are distinct structures to be used? How does information in one information structure relate to information in another structure?
2.6.2 System Modelling
System modelling is the process of developing abstract models of a system, with each model presenting a different view or perspective of that system.System modelling generally focuses on the problem structure, other than its external behavior. Consequently, things like user interfaces are rarely modeled.System modelling helps the analyst to understand the functionality of the system and models are used to communicate with customers. Different models present the system from different perspectives
• External perspective showing the system’s context or environment
• Behavioural perspective showing the behaviour of the system
• Structural perspective showing the system or data architecture
The second and third analysis principles discussed in the last section require that we build modelsof function and behavior.
Functional models:Software transforms information, and in order toaccomplish this, it…
