Women's Workforce

Women are part of the workforce of United States of America. Despite the gender roles, society has facilitated for women to work. Women’s workforce remains generally low paid and undervalued. During World War Two and at the end, women began to work. Ever since the 1960s women took steps initiate a new era where women achieve great opportunities. Women had to find a way to sustain their selves, their kids and the elderly economically. So women had to take change since the men were fighting for our country. Women began farming and working while taking care of their kids. Yet many men dint want them to keep working when they came back but why? Well men were afraid that “men would turn feminine and women would turn masculine” according to a public …show more content…
The reason behind this concept is that society had the idea that “women are meant to marry and let their husbands take care of all matters relating to the outside world.”(When everything changed) Women were and are viewed till this day as the primary caregivers. This is also the reason why women get paid less than men because the expectation of businesses is that women who have children are expected not to stay working for a long after they give birth. Currently in the time we live in, we are seeing more cases in which parent get divorced. When a man and a women get divorced women tend to get the custody of the children. So society is left with single mothers causing women to have an economic necessity, since the living cost increases they have no choice but to work so they can sustain their families. Regardless if a woman has a job or not they are still required to perform their roles of caretakers. My mother was a single-mother of 3 children including myself, for three years and it was difficult for her to go to work and taking the role of a mother. My mother said “it was hard but not impossible.” She said that it was hard because she was working long hours while she was taking care of us. It wasn’t impossible because her boss would allow her to leave when we needed her and her boss would give her a flexible work schedule. You might be thinking “What in the world is this person talking about,” but it’s true. Women are more likely to get hired because there are more educated women than there are men. This is because girls are born more attentive than guys are and businesses want people who are attentive and are more likely to succeed. Since women are more attentive they are more likely to succeed and are able to work together contrary to some beliefs like those of The new feminist idea where it reads “Not two women can even be friends and Women are Cats.” At an early age women are thought to be polite, nice, well behaved and to go to school and are forced to have good grades. As a kid my parents forced me to have good grades and to be polite. They also gave me a false concept that girls aren’t allowed to bad grades nor are they allowed to play outside. So in some ways girls are forced to have good grades so they can be successful when they grow up. This idea that my parent gave me were good and bad at the same time. The reason why it was good was because they knew I was prone to be successful and it would facilitate me to find and get jobs. The reason why it was bad it was because they tried to give me the idea that guys did all the outside jobs while women where in the office or taking care of someone. By making me stay inside they neglected me of some opportunities to learn skills that I could be helpful in some period of my
