Although women have started to enroll in the workforce, they still didn't get equal treatment. Women were paid less than a man for the same amount of work and in order to get equality Congress passed The Equal pay Act in 1963. This law requires the same pay for men and women in the same profession although pay differentials are permitted when they are based on seniority, merit, quantity or quality of production, or a factor other than sex. Unfortunately, 50 years later, much work still remains to be done— the Equal Rights Pay simply isn't enough to ensure equal pay from women. The Equal Protection Act states, as said previously, that the acceptable reasons for paying women less than men are to be based on seniority, merit, and productivity.
