Children are shown from the get go that success is handed to them and not earned. There are always problems within a system but taking away the standard isn 't a solution to the problem, its taking away the purpose of the institution as a whole, an institution that is designed to teach and uphold standards. Allowing people to move into the next grade does not prepare them for higher education, jobs, athletic programs or any other activity that would require them to be held accountable for how much they do or don 't apply themselves. This education structure also allows the institution themselves to give the students little to no effort in comparison for what the would give them if students passing that class actually mattered. In my opinion it allows all parties involved to take the easy way out of finding a solution to a failing education system and the only ones that its affecting are the children, the next generation of of leaders for our country and the next problem
