Power Point Script With the variety of topics covered in the curriculum over the last year, there was one topic that stood out to me the most, electricity. There was something very curiosity inducing about the fundamental forces that enables electricity to do wonders in the world. Outside of the realm of the studied curriculum, there is a whole chapter on the nature of induced forces in magnetic fields. This struck great interest and lead to further research. In the 1830’s, an English scientist named Michel Faraday was credited with the discovery of induced currents and the practical behind it. He first wrapped a copper wire around an iron ring. On one side of the ring, there was a battery with a switch. On the opposite side, there was a galvanometer. He noticed a strange pattern in variations in currents. This evolved into further experimentation with magnetic fields. He used a coil of copper with a galvanometer attached to either end. A magnet was passed through the center of the coil, which displayed a voltage spike on the galvanometer. With further experimentation, Faraday found that the greater the number of coils and the more conductive the material it is made of, the greater the spike in voltage I induced. The main factor that causes this …show more content…
One of these distinguished individuals was Edwin Hall. Hall concluded that not only voltage could be induced in a system, but also resistance. The basis on the induction of resistance in metals comes from the alterations of spin of electrons in the system. When the electrons move through ferromagnetic materials, a torque is applied which is directly linked to the increase of resistance in a system. The Anomalous Hall Effect more specifically explains this concept. This references the nature of the magnetic moment orientation in the electrons when they belong to a ferromagnetic

    Apollo Moon Landing

The topic that I chose was the space exploration with the Apollo moon landings. Well at the time there was great political turmoil in the world because of the cold war. Before the moon missions people had not ventured very far out into space, but president Kennedy gave a challenge to land on the moon by a certain time. They did not know exactly how they would accomplish this at the time but hundreds of scientists and engineers put in thousands of man hours in order to figure it out. They continued to refine their rocket designs until it was safe enough for people to ride in.…

The topic I chose was the discovery of the planet Uranus. Uranus was discovered on March 13, 1781 by an astronomer by the name of Sir William Herschel. One night as William Herschel was studying stars that were too distant to see with the human eye he noticed an object that moved in front of all the other stars. Further investigation led to the idea that the object was actually another planet slowly revolving around the sun. That was the discovery of Uranus.…

The experiment in Dr. Evans paper will replicated using the same measurements and techniques. This project is to serve as a proof of principle, showing that literature value can be replicated using a weaker magnet. The pH experiment will be used to illustrate the kinetic of the clock reaction. The concentration of the reactants and the pH of reacting mixture will be varied to determine their effect on the induction period of the clock reaction.…

Scientists make important contributions to technology and medicine through their discoveries. Nikola Tesla is distinguished for his futuristic inventions which serve as components of electrical systems in modern times. Another scientist who influenced contemporary technology is Joseph Henry, who developed the telegraph. Likewise, the acclaimed scientist Hans Christian Ørsted discovered electromagnetism, which broadened the range of scientific possibilities. Despite the eminence of Tesla, Henry, and Ørsted, the importance of Michael Faraday’s scientific achievements remains unsurpassed.…

The lab exercises showed hoe the charges effected one another. The first experiment showed that if the charges were the same the charged rule would not have an effect on the material. When the charges were different the material would then stick to the charged ruler. The third exercise showed hoe a charged object will stick to another object what has the opposite charge. We also saw how the amount of a charge can play into objects with attracting…

Nikola Tesla was an innovative intellectual of the Gilded Age whose ideas were far ahead of his time. The modern world would be nothing like it is today without Tesla’s insights. He revolutionized the scientific community and the world’s knowledge of electric current, but there were plenty of other interesting facets of his life and career. He was much more than an engineer, and unfortunately, many of his peers underestimated him on account of his quirkiness and battle with mental illness.…

For example in the experiment, the amount of mass was increasing after every voltage and that is due higher voltage. Less voltage the anode will not even formed bubbles, no oxygen.…

In equilibrium, the electric force and magnetic force on electrons balance each other or mathematically E_y=vB, where v is the drift velocity of electrons. Then the Hall voltage is measured in y-direction, V_H=wE_y. In term of volume density of electron in the metal, the current density can be written as j_x=nev. The Hall resistance is…
