Static Electricity or Electrostatics
Purpose/Question-
The purpose of this experiment it to explore static electricity and to explore how charges effect one another.
Hypothesis–
Any like charges will repel each other and any unalike charges will be attracted to each other.

Their does stick to some surfaces better than others. The balloon stuck to the cross stitch hanging and the side of the bed better then anything else. This is because the charge of the balloon and the surface were more different then the charge of the other materials.
B. Rub an inflated balloon against your hair and then try to stick it to the same objects you used for Step A. Does rubbing with fur work as well as, better than, or worse than if you rub the balloon against your hair instead?
The charged balloon stuck to all the same objects the fur charged balloon stuck to. I also got the balloon to stick to a mirror and a Chinese umbrella, which I could not get the fur charged balloon to stick to. Rubbing the balloon against you hair is better then rubbing it against fur. This because the hair charged balloon stick better to objects and against more objects, then the fur charged balloon.
C. Bring the charged balloon close to the paper scraps from Part 2. How does the rubbed balloon affect the paper bits?

Exactly what was the purpose of touching the ball while the ruler was nearby?
Touching the ball is so that the ball can have a neural charge by transferring the charge to my fingers.
C. Neutralize the aluminum foil ball. Bring the charged ruler close enough to the ball so that the ball gently and quickly touches it only once. Describe what you observe just after they touch. Explain why this happens in both words and appropriate diagrams.
Like in the water and balloon exercise the aluminum ball was pushed away by the ruler. This was caused because the ruler and the ball had similar charges.
Claim-
Any electric charges will effect one another. Negative charges will be attracted to positive charges, and positive will be attracted to negative. Negative will repel negative charges, and positive will repel positive charges.
Evidence-
The lab exercises showed hoe the charges effected one another. The first experiment showed that if the charges were the same the charged rule would not have an effect on the material. When the charges were different the material would then stick to the charged ruler. The third exercise showed hoe a charged object will stick to another object what has the opposite charge. We also saw how the amount of a charge can play into objects with attracting
