Music is an extraordinary, unique, form of art that has grown and developed throughout the course of time. Not only does music help express our inner thoughts and convey emotions, but it also helps us understand the interesting activities and functions going on in our brain. While certain people prefer to listen to the pleasant tonality of a musical selection to help them work, there are others who find the beauty of music by playing the harmonies melodies.
Although some of us find ourselves constantly doing the same things everyday. Like working in an office for hours on end or even actively moving around the job site, but having to repeatedly do the same task can be quite tiresome. On the other hand, when listening to music while completing

Whereas when a musician is playing the music, it is “the brain’s equivalent of a full-body workout.” Not only does the brain light up, it also processes collected information in complex, anastomotic, and remarkably fast arrangements. Despite that research is still being conducted, neuroscientists believe that playing an instrument puts every section of the brain to work at once. Which helps to reinforce the brain 's functions in day-to-day activities.( A study from the Journal of Neuroscience, has shown that minors who learn to play music at a young age increase the volume and activity in the brain’s corpus callosum (a broad band of nerve fibers joining the two hemispheres of the brain), which allows the brain to send messages back and forth much quicker and efficiently. Specifically, these connections in the brain help with cognitive and emotional skills, such as mathematics, reading understanding, spelling, and listening and motor skills.( In addition to the functions, we all own a brain which consists of two hemispheres. When music is being played or heard, these three functions stimuli work together by processing a musical selection, then creating a specific emotion and associating the song to a treasurable moment. (
The sensory cortex, located in the parietal lobe, interprets information from distinctive body parts by using one of the five senses, known as touch. With this function, we are able to feel the instrument that creates the endless sound waves of pleasing music, or dissonant, depending on one 's taste. (
Occupying the occipital lobe, is the visual cortex which receives its visual data through the optic nerves. Furthermore, the visual cortex is extremely helpful in terms of composing harmonies chords, and being able to perform the melodious selections to an audience. (
Finally, the nucleus accumbens, corpus callosum, and cerebellum are placed on both hemispheres of the brain. Where the corpus callosum is highly necessary to send messages between the two hemispheres. Whereas in the nucleus accumbens helps us have an emotional reaction to music and so does the cerebellum, but it also deals with regulating motor movements, such as coordination when playing a musical instrument.
