Jobs for Immigrants When immigrants first come the United States through Ellis Island, they see the Statute of Liberty welcoming them to the land of opportunity. The words carved on the bottom of Lady Liberty is soothing to many immigrants who have experienced obstacles, fear, and poverty within their own country: “Give me your tired, you poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!” (The Statue of Liberty- Ellis Island Foundation). For many years, the United States has implied that they offer numerous job opportunities for people wanting to pursue their dreams. However, the numerous opportunities that Lady Liberty discriminates against those who are not American citizens, even though the immigrants have helped strengthen the economy. Many people complain about immigrants even though they support the U. S economy, by working and provide jobs opportunities. And many people take it as distortion, for many immigrants is very difficult live with their reality of life style, that some immigrants called “The golden cage”. Because they live without freedom, fear and in some cases hungry. And is not about crossing the border that makes an immigrant a criminals or bad people. Is focus about how they contribute with the country by working hard with their knowledge, and what they are willing to do. People complains about immigrants while they support the U.S economy by providing jobs, paying taxes appropriate, and provide more jobs opportunity for more people.
