The basics parts of an accident prevention plan are listed as the following (Battles, 2011): (a) overview of the company’s safety program, (b) what to do in an emergency, (c) the location of first aids kits, (d) how to report injuries, (e) how to report unsafe conditions, (f) identifying hazards in the work environments, (g) and safety meetings (p.4). After completing the accident prevention plan the company needs to do a job hazard analysis. A job hazard analysis is a review of how employees could injure themselves preforming tasks. This information should be included in the accident prevention plan (Battles, 2011, p.4). When creating the plan the employer needs to have a specific plan for every position. After considering job hazards and ways to prevent them, the employer can address the solutions more effectively and present measures that will help those accidents become more preventive and less frequent (Battles, 2011, p.4). An accident prevention plan helps reduce the costs of accident by making the employee more conscience of their surrounding and taking repetitive strenuous tasks into consideration. This requires input from employees of all levels, from the office to the company floor. With all different levels involved there is a better understanding of safety issues pertaining to the different jobs and helps invest them in safe practices (Battles, 2011, p.4).
