1. Purpose of WCA (Workers Compensation Act), Alberta
• The Workers’ Compensation Board under the WCA provide restitution to workers if they injured at workplace and develop disease during employment(WCA,2016)
• Workers should have insurance so that they can get medical claim because it is difficult for employer to pay from business money. Worker compensation insurance give monetary help to worker’s family when disability takes place.
• Due to this act, workers can get medical care when someone injured at job sites and they do not have to prove who is responsible for injury to get benefits.

2. Duties performed by employer and employee at workplace at time of accident:

• At the first moment, the employer must provide appropriate medical assistance to the injured employee, in the event of serious injury; they should

Return to work program:
• Returning injured worker back to the work is a delicate issue.
• For the Employee, it is important to be supportive towards injured employee to help in recovery so that they stick with their organization.
• Employer should assign an easy job for the employee once he/she get back to work.
• Employer must provide employee health and safety tips so he/she gets safe at work.

5. There is direct and indirect cost incurred for this workplace injury :
 Indirect cost
• The money spent on the repair of vehicle and equipment the worker was using when he/ get injured
• The wastage of time, products and money because when an accident occur at work place al fellow workers and supervisor respond to injury of worker.
• There is need to hire short term or permanent worker at the place of injured worker, it is necessary to give proper training to the new worker which consume money.
 Direct cost
• The immediate expenses arises when worker get injured at workplace like first aid or medical treatment, ambulance, hospital room charges, wheelchair etc.
