The idea of gender and gender roles in today’s society shape the way we live and interact in our everyday lives. From the day you are born you are taught and interpret a certain way to act depending on what sex you are. Albert Bandura developed his own theories called reciprocal determinism; Bandura believed that not only does the environment influence behavior, but behavior influences the environment He looked at personality as three things that people interact with, the environment, behavior and the cognitive factors. With this new understanding it help determined how my actions help determine my personality in defining my gender role in society. The first factor is the cognitive approach. This factor proposes the interaction of mental schema and social experience in directing gender role behavior. My Thoughts, and Feelings, were pretty clear that I was a male. Throughout the course of my life there never been a second doubt whether if I was homosexual or thinking I’m a woman in a man body. Even though, I was exposed to that kind of situation. for instance In my younger years I would say around the age of 6 my parents always drop me off at my cousin who was homosexual and with his boyfriend and I never once changed my thought process or feeling of what I am. I know what Values, and Expectations is expected of me. I been taught not to judge other by what path they take and respect others for who they are.
