The Holy Spirit: The Characteristics Of The Holy Spirit

Superior Essays
The Holy Spirit is a very unique and amazing person; he is also very complex. The person of the Holy Spirit has many characteristics. Along with all hi characteristics, his emotions are also a huge part of what make up the Holy Spirit. One of the places in the bible you can see the Holy Spirit’s emotions come out is seen in Romans 15:30. This verse particularly shows the Holy Spirit’s love; it goes on to say, “Now I urge you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God for me” (Romans 15:30 NIV). The person of the Holy Spirit also speaks to us a lot of the time. This concept is proved in scripture many times. You can see a great example in verse Acts 10:19, where the Holy Spirit begins speaking to Peter. Wilson puts it. I want to go more in depth about how the Spirit speaks. Point blank He speaks, and he does so to tell the mind of Jesus to us in the Kingdom. Many times the Holy Spirit speaks through our own individual gifts we have received. The Spirit speaks to and through all Christian believers. Well demonstrated in verse “Acts 2:16-21, 4:31, and 19:6”, to name a few. Not only does the Holy Spirit speak to all believers, but he also speaks with specificity. He uses specificity to help give is insight regarding the future (Acts 11:27-28 NIV), he also uses specificity to give us warnings (Acts 20:23 NIV) and guidance (Acts 13:1-3 NIV). Overall, the Holy Spirit is very involved in all aspects of the Earth. He helps us by giving us guidance, the church by giving guidance to the leaders and speaking through people, and the Earth by being the person of God. Reverberation: How God’s Word Brings Light, Freedom, and Action to His People Jonathan Leeman’s Reverberation serves as a call for all in the pulpit and in the pews to renew their confidence in the authority and power of God’s Word. While Leeman acknowledges most church’s proverbial “lip service” to the importance of the Bible, he seeks to elevate the ministry of the Word as the ultimate ministry of the church. If God is for the growth of the church and not against it, then what is his design to bring that growth about? Ironically, through the Word, Leeman “re-reveals” God’s design is to grow the church through his Word. This means that good things, like “lay visitation… adequate parking… the presence of the Holy Spirit… loving relationships……

Mary MacKillop lived an inspirational life. She is an exceeding example for modern Christians striving to fulfil these three roles, exercising personal sacrifice; speaking the true word of God, even when condemned for doing so; and serving as a leader within the church. In the Old Testament, the most significant job of the priest was to offer sacrifices to god, for thanksgiving or the atonement of sin. They acted as mediators between God and the people, uniting divinity and humanity. Priests walk in fellowship and are aligned to God through…

The Nature of God and Missions The Nature of God and Missions can be seen throughout the Old and New Testament scriptures. God’s mission is directly related to His own nature. According to 1 John 4:8, God is love and he works through his people to fulfil his purpose. “The central idea here is that God is the one who initiates and sustains mission. This term refutes the traditional idea that mission is the centered on the church and to express that mission actually is centered on God.” Individuals that have been sent into the world to proclaim the gospel, must take specific action by sharing the gospel and persuading all the people of the world to become Jesus’s disciples.…

Prayer and praise are present in all religions. Christians, Hindus, Muslims, and others are all include prayer and praise in their worship. Religious doctrines require Christians to praise and thank the Lord for the blessings that have been given upon them. "God inhabits the praise” (Psalm 22:3 – “But thou art holy, O Thou that inhabit the praise of Israel.”) Other translations reveal that God is “Enthroned in/on the praises of Israel, or of His people.” This verse from the book of Psalms shows that God lives in people’s lives and the praises of his people. God ought to be praised because as his children, humans love him, and they should always be grateful for the wonderful things that he has done for them.…

    2) The Great Commission enables us to approach biblical foundations from more than a motivational viewpoint and in full view of our beliefs. “It allows us to explore what warrant exists for the fact that, in the church, evangelism continues to “happen,” that somehow the Holy Spirit is the instigator, and that evangelism takes place as the overflow of the gospel among people captivated by the joy of the good news” (page 66). Additionally, Hunsberger explores themes to consider a new way of evangelism. First, the reign of God should be inferred as a gift “to receive.” In essence, we possess the inheritance of God. Also, “to enter” where we are met in the inhabited place that God welcomes and invites us in His presence.…
