When some people think of the internet, they think of freedom. The freedom of sharing and receiving information, the freedom of expression, and the freedom of speech are all exercised on the web. With all this, one couldn’t expect such a place to be neat and clean. If content isn’t meant for someone under the age of 18, the parents of that minor should be monitoring what they’re viewing. If content is illegal, there are laws set in place to prohibit and punish those who break them. It shouldn’t be a surprise that some people abuse their privilege of the internet, and not everyone should deal with the consequences brought due to these individuals. In the opinion of some, the government already has enough restraints put in place on the internet, and there does not need to be anymore. Since the internet is a free, limitless forum, it should not have any more restrictions placed by the government, despite some of the explicit content that people post. It is important to realize that freedom, as explained in the Random House Dictionary, means being in a state with no confinement. In the personal life of an individual, such a reality is just a dream. These individuals are faced with harsh laws welded by an even harsher government that make sure it stays that way. If a person in this type of situation has access to the internet, then he can escape those chains. Could that person be curious about their potential rights?
