Land of the free and home of the brave. That is what America is, it is what we stand for. As a united country we should take action against any direct threat to our beautiful homeland. Any issue that threatens our well being, whether that be directly or economically needs to be dealt with. George Washington’s farewell address sparked the idea of isolationism in the US. Isolationism is “the policy of isolating one 's country from the affairs of other nations by declining to enter foreign economic commitments, international agreements, seeking to devote the entire efforts of one 's country to its own advancement and remain at peace by avoiding foreign entanglements and responsibilities” (Dictionary.com). In America’s history, we have maintained an isolationists state, however events such as Pearl Harbor demonstrate that we can no longer be one. In hindsight, the world is becoming a more complicated and advanced place. No country today, could ever successfully maintain an isolationist realm. America’s foreign policy should be to intervene in any situation where US national or economic security is seriously threatened.
Firstly, America has been involved in both WWI and WWII. Rightfully so because the nation was directly threatened during each war. WWI began because Franz Ferdinand the archduke of Austria-Hungary was assassinated. Tension had been building up in years before the assassination between Austria-Hungary and Serbia.
